How to Identify Different Types of Tensile Structures

There are three main types of tensile structures:  Pneumatic structures,  membrane tensioned, and mesh tensioned.

The most popular kind of tensile structure, which is membrane tensioned structure, consists of the following elements: a frame; roof fabric, which is either PTFE or PVC coated; and cables, which are used to fasten the roof fabric panels onto frames or into a membrane These comprise a fabric sheet stretched between cables or other sustaining structures. These membrane-tensed structures may come as conical, barrel-vaulted, or hyperpara boloid.

Mesh tensioned structures are similar to membrane tensioned structures only employing a mesh of cables in place of a fabric membrane. The mesh tension structures are mostly used in supporting heavy loads like glass, roof covering, etc.

Air pressure is used to support pneumatic structures. Most often, they are crafted from an extremely delicate material that inflates by being blown into the air. For the most part, pneumatic structures are deployed temporarily, e.g., on the occasion of events involving tents.

To identify different  types of tensile structures, you can look at the following features:

Shape: Tensile structure is one such type and the shape of this kind can hint at its identification. Such as conical tensioned structures resemble tents while hyper-tensioned structures have a double-curved surface

  • Supporting elements: You can also determine a particular type of tensile structure by the kind of secondary members utilized for its support. In this regard, membrane-structured tension typically uses cables to reinforce the material membrane whereas mesh-structured tension employs a network of wires. subsection: In this regard, membrane tensioned typically uses cables to reinforce the material membrane whereas, mesh tensioned until
  • Materials: The type of tensile structure can also be deciphered from the kinds of materials employed in it. Such materials include lightweight fabrics like PVC or ETFE, including for instance pneumatic structures.

Here are some examples of specific types of tensile structures:

  • Conical tensioned structures: Tents, marquees, circus tents
  • Hyper-tensioned structures: Sports stadiums, concert venues, aircraft hangers
  • Parallel arch or barrel vault tensioned structures: Covered walkways, greenhouses, swimming pool enclosures
  • Cable net and membrane structures: Atriums, skylights, facades
  • Linear tensile structures: Suspension bridges, cable-stayed bridges

If you are unsure about the type of tensile structure, you can always consult with a structural engineer or architect.

In the markets different types of tensile systems are available you can see the below:

Tensile Car Parking: these tensile structures cover vehicles from unnatural weather effects like summer, winter, and rain.

Tensile Fabric Structure: fabric structures are extremely strong and lightweight compared to other types of construction.

Swimming Pool Tensile Structure: Swimming pool structures are expertly designed to protect swimmers from harmful UV rays that are not good for human skin.

Tensile Umbrella Structures: usually tensile umbrella structures cover the outdoor gardens and open areas like food café, restaurants, gardens, etc

In the above, we were discussing different types of tensile systems available in the markets you can easily install with the best tensile manufacturer company.
